Citing the lack of a local broadcast outlet in the State's second largest city, the editor noted that that fact underscores the need for more community electronic media access. Further noting that the nonprofit, national "Alliance for Community Media" organization has designated March 19-25, 2000 as "Media Democracy Week" across the country, the editor endorses the calls to bring Jersey City community media into the Twenty-first Century."
